The Metropolitan Police have been accused of trying to block an anti-monarchy group from protesting at the Trooping of the Colour this weekend.
The event marks the British monarch’s official birthday and sees the Horse Guards Parade through the streets of London each year.

This year’s event has already been marred by uncertainty over whether the Princess of Wales will attend due to her ongoing fight against cancer – as Kate apologised last week for missing the final rehearsal.
Anti-monarchy group Republic have accused the Met of trying to use human rights legislation to block their planned protest, insisting they move out of sight of both the parade and the media.
The group has described the attempt as ‘kafkaesque’ and a ‘very worrying development’.
The Metropolitan Police have declined to comment, and we’ve approached Royal Parks for a response.
