Glastonbury Festival 2024 is just around the corner but attention has already turned to next year’s event and the possible headliners – with one huge name tipped to finally play.

Thousands of music fans are getting ready to make their way to Worthy Farm for this year’s festival, with performances from Dua LipaColdplay, and SZA, with Shania Twain performing in the traditional Sunday Legends slot.

With the weather set to be ‘wetter than average’ for Glastonbury, many attendees will be casting their thoughts to 2025 and the possible acts yet to come.

The rumour mill has already begun circulating who could appear, with a source claiming rap icon Eminem is in the running to finally headline the event.

Despite having numerous festival appearances and accolades under his belt, the Real Slim Shady rapper, 51, has never played Glastonbury.

Speaking about Eminem’s potential slot, an insider said: ‘It’s been a long time coming but finally, after years of trying, Emily [Eavis, Glastonbury co-organiser] could be about to get her wish. It’s by no means a done deal but with a successful comeback in motion a huge headline slot next year makes sense.’

They continued to The Sun: ‘I’m sure everyone behind the scenes is willing things to work out. Eminem recently shot to the top of the charts with Houdini from his upcoming LP The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce). Fans have also started to talk about who they want to headline the iconic slots.’

Eminem’s last live shows in the UK took place in 2016 – despite rumours he was set to perform in Birmingham this year – with two sold-out nights at Wembley Stadium as part of his Rapture Tour.

He was rumoured to be headline Glastonbury last year, before Arctic Monkeys, Elton John, and Guns ‘N Roses were announced.

‘Eminem is wanted for a huge slot at Glastonbury and has been in talks for yonks,’ a source told The Sun.

‘Eminem is one of the greatest rappers on the planet and to have him down on the farm would be incredible.

It comes as he is set to release a new album – and kill off Slim Shady (Picture: Kevin Mazur/Getty Images for Roc Nation)

‘It would be a really special moment, not just for him but for everyone at the festival.

‘They think he will sign on the dotted line and they can get things moving.’

It comes as the musician, real name Marshall Mathers, announced he will be killing off his infamous Slim Shady character in his upcoming new album.

The Without Me hitmaker created Slim Shady with the release of the Slim Shady EP in 1997. Outlandish and violent, Slim has been at the centre of songs that have seen Eminem face huge controversy.

But his 12th studio album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), will mark the end of the character’s criminal reign in a storyline that has run throughout Eminem’s work.

He confirmed the new release on his Instagram sharing a teaser trailer for a fictional true crime show named Detroit Murder Files.
