Manchester United have confirmed the departures of seven players after announcing their official retained players list with talks ongoing with a number of others.

Both Anthony Martial and Raphael Varane have already confirmed they will be moving on having reached the ends of their respective contracts.

Joining them will be full-back Brandon Williams, who broke into the senior side under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in 2019, making 51 appearances for the first-team.

He spent last season on loan at Ipswich Town, enjoying an impressive start to the campaign but played his last game for the Tractor Boys in December.

Jonny Evans, who returned to the club last year, is in talks over a new contract along with veteran goalkeeper Tom Heaton, also a former United academy graduate.

Reports this week claimed Omari Forson, handed his senior debut by Erik ten Hag at the start of the year, is poised to leave the club when his deal expires at the end of the month.

United insist however ‘discussions remain open’ having formally offered the winger a new deal.

That is also the ongoing situation with another of the club’s prospects in Shola Shoretire. The forward became the club’s youngest ever player to make an appearances in a European competition when he came off the bench at the age of 17 and 23 days in 2021.

Now 20, he spent last season on loan at Bolton Wanderers.

United have also confirmed Charlie McNeil will leave the club to ‘seek new opportunities elsewhere’.

The striker previously played in Manchester City’s academy, scoring over 600 goals at youth levels before heading for the red half of the city.

Marcus Lawrence and Kie Plumley will also leave the club, along with Under-21 player-coach Tom Huddlestone.

Those confirmed departures are unlikely to be the last exits at Old Trafford this summer with almost the entire squad up for sale.

Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund are reportedly the only players in the squad regarded as ‘unsellable’.
