Sanwo-Olu, Adeleke, Fintiri, Mbah, Obaseki, Others Bag Vanguard 2023 Awards

Twenty eight eminent Nigerians who distinguished themselves in various fields of human endeavour were honoured at the Vanguard Personality of the Year Awards on Friday night in Lagos.

The awards kicked off with a group of five achievers and icons bagging the Lifetime Achievement Awards held at the Eko Hotel & Suites.

Those celebrated at the awards ceremony were founder and CEO of Air Peace Airline, Dr Allen Onyema and minister of interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who won the joint personality of the year award.

Outstanding Governor’s Award went to Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Peter Mbah (Enugu), Ademola Adeleke (Osun), Godwin Obaseki (Edo) and Ahmad Fintiri (Adamawa).

The former chairman, executive council of the Arewa Consultative Forum from 2009 to 2012,  Gen I.B.M Haruna,  was among the seven that bagged the Vanguard Lifetime Achievement Awards. 

Chief Bode George is a frontline politician and a retired Navy Commodore was also honoured on the night.

 A former managing director / CEO and later chairman of Nestle Nigeria Limited, Chief Olusegun Osunkeye,  was honoured with the Vanguard Lifetime Achievement Award.

 Pastor Ayodele Joseph Oritsejafor, fiery preacher and church leader was also given the Lifetime Achievement Awards. 

Also, Dr (Mrs) Victoria Samson, Managing Director of BOVAS Group was among the honourees of the Achievement Awards. BOVAS has grown into a prominent petroleum marketing firm in Nigeria.

The chairman of occasion, former Cross River State Governor, Donald Duke, commended the organizers and noted that Vanguard had made giant and noble achievements in 40 years.
