NHS statistics show that one in 40 men in England’s 106 Clinical Commissioning Groups were prescribed a Viagra-style medication last year.
About one in every 33 men were prescribed the drugs — generic name sildenafil — in the top ten regions.
Top was the East Riding, covering Hull and Beverley.
Yorkshire cities and towns including Rotherham, Barnsley, Harrogate, Scarborough and Whitby, also featured in the top ten for men needing pills to be champion rather than mardy.
The areas with the lowest percentage of prescriptions were Leicester, London, Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
Last year about 750,000 men in England got 4.3million prescriptions for the drugs, costing the NHS £16.4million.
London Bridge Hospital consultant urologist Gordon Muir said: “Discussing sexual problems with a GP may be more difficult for some religious or ethnic groups, and some regions may be more sympathetic than others.
“Drugs such as sildenafil are safe, cheap and effective.
“Men using them, and their partners have a significant increase in wellbeing.
“ED can also be a forerunner of serious illnesses.”
