The second bank holiday in May is now upon us, and it’s the perfect opportunity to catch up on all those annoying DIY jobs around the house.
An extra day off work is also a great time to get gardening and make your plot or window boxes look lovely – as long as the flooding and thunderstorms from earlier in the week have cleared up, of course.
But with some shops changing their opening times over bank holidays, when can you pop to B&Q, Homebase, Wickes and Screwfix?
Here’s what you need to know.
When is B&Q open over the Spring bank holiday?
B&Q stores will be open as normal over the Spring bank holiday.

This should be from 7am or 8am until 8pm.
It’s best to check your local store’s opening times online, using B&Q’s Store Finder.
When is Homebase open over the bank holiday?
Homebase says its stores will be open between 8am and 7pm on the Spring Bank Holiday.

When is Wickes open over the bank holiday?

Wickes says its stores will be open as usual.
This means you’ll be able to visit and pick up supplies from 7am until 8pm.

When is Screwfix open over the Spring Bank Holiday?
On the bank holiday, most Screwfix stores in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland are expected be open as normal, from 7am until 8pm.
