The scene of the collapse in Majorca, Spain
At least two people have been killed and as many as 14 injured when a two-storey building crumbled in an island in Spain.
Up to 10 others are understood to be trapped under the slabs of concrete at the beach resort in Majorca.
Police and firefighters have arrived at the scene of the collapse. Search and rescue operations are ongoing to find survivors.
This means the number of victims may go up in the hours to come as emergency services comb through the wreckage.
The building has been identified locally as a bar in the Playa de Palma sea stretch called the Medusa Beach Club.
It is understood that the terrace of the bar collapsed while there were a number of people on it.
But the name of the property has not been confirmed by emergency services as of yet.
As well as confirming that two people have died, authorities added that one person has been seriously injured.
Police said: ‘Two people are confirmed dead in the collapse of the building on Cartago street in Palma beach.
‘Some 12-14 injuries of varying degrees are also confirmed.’
There is not yet any information as to whether they are workers or holidaymakers.
It is being reported a false ceiling has collapsed, although there has not yet been any official confirmation.
A spokesperson for a regional emergency response coordination centre said: ‘We have activated an emergency response as a result of the collapse of the ceiling of a two-storey building in Avenida Cartago in Playa de Palma, where people are trapped.
‘Firefighters and local police are at the scene.’
