Ajax star Brian Brobbey dreams of playing for Arsenal with the Gunners weighing up a summer move for the striker.
Arsenal are eager to sign a new striker this summer after they were beaten to the Premier League title by Manchester City on the final day of the season on Sunday.
The club’s first choice is Alexander Isak but Newcastle United do not want to sell the Sweden international, who scored 21 Premier League goals this season.
Arsenal are also wary of entering into a drawn-out transfer saga and should they be told a deal for Isak is not possible, they will focus elsewhere.
Reports now suggest Brobbey will be Arsenal’s second-choice target.
Shortly before those links emerged, the 22-year-old striker was asked by NOS Jeugdjournaal which club away from Ajax he would like to play for some day.
He replied: ‘Arsenal, I think that is a very nice club. If you look at that stadium. A very nice club, but that also applies to Manchester United, Barcelona and Real Madrid.’

Brobbey has scored 22 goals in 43 appearances this season and was quick to insist he his happy at Ajax. ‘I have a contract until 2027. At the moment I am just with Ajax.’
While Brobbey has been lethal in front of goal in the Dutch capital having also scored 12 times in his first season at the club, he has made just one appearance for Netherlands, winning his first cap last October.
Dutch head coach Ronald Koeman has been critical of the Ajax star, questioning whether his first touch is good enough last year.
‘I still hope he continues to develop,’ Koeman told Ziggo Sport.
‘We had him with the Dutch team during the previous international break. We were shooting and you saw that his first touch and the way he finished was not good.
‘Then I wonder – what do you do as a striker at the clubs you have been to? And with all due respect, that John Bosman now becomes the striker coach that Brobbey is looking up to. How long has Brobbey been at Ajax? He went to Leizpig in between, came back, didn’t play… as a technical staff, aren’t you going to do your best?’
