King Charles has marked one year since his historic Coronation by sharing a behind-the-scenes video including unseen clips.
May 6, 2023, kicked off with the clip-clop of horses’ hooves and ended with Charles sitting on St Edward’s chair in the first coronation since Queen Elizabeth’s in 1953.
The Royal Family commemorated the first anniversary of the coronation with a video revisit the spectacle in Westminster Abbey
A post on X from the Royal Family’s official account said: ‘Today marks the first anniversary of The King and Queen’s Coronation in [Westminster Abbey].
‘As well as the service itself, the Coronation Weekend saw a carriage procession through central London, a fly-past, a Royal Salute by 4,000 troops in the gardens of Buckingham Palace, a Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle and a UK-wide volunteering initiative.
‘What’s your favourite memory of the weekend?’
The clip showed Charles meeting royal fans on the Mall the day before the ceremony and Queen Camilla being taken to the Abbey in a horse-drawn coach.
After an array of shots from inside the Abbey – including the moment the pair are crowned king and queen – the royals make their way back to Buckingham Palace.
Other moments in the reel included a cockpit video taken by a Red Arrows pilot during the RAF fly-past and Prince William’s speech to his father.
Presidents, monarchs, politicians and celebrities were among the 2,300 people who watched the ceremony inside Westminster Abbey.

‘I come not to be served, but to serve,’ said Charles on the day, wearing a robe first worn by his grandfather, George VI.
‘Grant that I may be a blessing to all thy children, of every faith and belief.’
The King was out and about last week for the first time since his cancer diagnosis.
He told patients at the University College Hospital Macmillan Cancer Centre in London on Tuesday that he was ‘shocked’ to have been diagnosed with cancer.
Nearly three months since he disclosed he has cancer, Charles is counting his treatment, palace officials said last month.
