Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has applauded the appointment of Finidi George as Super Eagles head coach.
Former international winger, Finidi hails from the state.
Fubara, in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi said the 53-year-old’s appointment is a testament of his hard work, commitment, perseverance and patriotism over the years.
According to him, “George’s years of experience as a national and international footballer, particularly his mesmerising displays in Calabar Rovers, Sharks FC in Nigeria; and Ajax Amsterdam and Real Betis, among others in Europe, and as a coach will come handy in his new job.”
Fubara also prayed that God will grant him the wisdom and strength to discharge his duties effectively.
Finidi was one of the assistants to former Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro.
