Notorious wind-up merchant Neal Maupay has become the latest person to blast Antony following the Manchester United star’s ‘classless’ celebrations in the FA Cup semi-final.
United have reached the FA Cup final for a second consecutive year but did so in embarrassing fashion – on penalties after blowing a three goal lead to Coventry City.
Celebrations from most of the Red Devils were notably muted given the nature of the victory, but Antony – who has been slated this season for his woeful performances – was the exception to the rule.
The winger ran in front of the Coventry players and cupped his ears to them and their fans after Rasmus Hojlund’s winning spot-kick.
His antics have drawn widespread criticism, with many labelling the Brazilian as ’embarrassing’, ‘out of order’, ‘classless’ and a player only good enough for the Championship.
Brentford striker Maupay has now waded into the discourse, having garnered a reputation for being the Premier League’s chief s***house.
On Tuesday, the Frenchman retweeted a video of Antony’s celebrations, with the captain: ‘Just for the record, not even I would do this,’ accompanied by a crying face emoji.
It’s a fun bit of trolling from Maupay, though given some of his other antics, one would have thought that he would have approved of Antony’s actions.
His fellow Brentford teammate and England international Ivan Toney certainly thought so, replying to Maupay’s tweet with two laughing emojis and the message: ‘Not too sure on that one!’
Just this season, Maupay has trolled the likes of Kyle Walker, Scott McTominay and most notably James Maddison, copying the Tottenham star’s signature darts celebration.

Maddison got the last laugh on that occasion, mocking the Bees striker afterward by saying that he ‘hasn’t scored enough goals in the last few years to have his own celebration’.
Meanwhile, Antony has broken his silence on the matter, claiming he was defending himself and his club.

He posted on Twitter: ‘Coventry proved why they reached the semi-final. We seeked this spot in the final for our fans and we achieved.
‘The way our fans were treated by their player was not nice and I, in the heat of the moment, reacted to the provocations in a natural defence of my club!’
