President Bola Tinubu has appointed the former chairman of the Nigeria Insurers Association (NIA), Mr Olusegun Ayo Omosehin as the new Commissioner for Insurance/CEO, National Insurance Commission (NAICOM).
Until his appointment, Omosehin was the managing director/CEO, Old Mutual Life Assurance Company Limited.
To this end, he takes over from the current commissioner for Insurance, Mr. Sunday Thomas, who has served out his one term, having officially resumed office in 2020.
Similarly, Ms. Halima Kyari becomes the new chairperson.
In a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale on Friday in Abuja, listed Mr Olawoye Gam-Ikon- Deputy Commissioner (Technical Operations) and Dr. Usman Ankara Jimada- Deputy Commissioner (Finance & Administration).
The remaining members of the board are; Dr Miriam Kene Kachikwu; Mr Adeniyi Olusegun Fabikun and Mr Umar Khalifa Mohammed.
Ngelale, in the statement, said the President expected the new Board of NAICOM to exercise utmost probity as it leads the commissions in ensuring a safe, sound, and stable insurance sector.
