It was a memorable first class showcase of entertainment, arts dance and cultural galore as Chief (Mrs) Florence Akinsoji, the Iyalode (women king), of Ikosi Kingdom of Lagos, marked her grand 90th birthday celebration in Lagos with fanfare.
The high-profile event featured scintillating music from most popular genre such as Gospel, Afrobeats, highlife, jazz and instrumental music, and traditional music of yesterday years.
These were excellently delivered by All Saints Anglican Church Choir; fast rising highlife musician, Tunde Onalaja and his band; Teen Star saxophonist, Ay Sax, Baba Ayo Traditional Singers, Dj Klexxy among others. However, it was the ten year old saxophonist, AY Sax, who stoled the show with her skillful display on the saxophone and very vintage stage showcase which was obviously too advanced for her age.
Her awesome performance keep all and sundry standing on the dance floor until she exit the stage. The 90 years old celebrant who couldn’t stand up danced joyfully to her outstanding musical performance from her seat.
Highlights of the colourful and crowd pulling ceremony, was captivating dances showcased by the Akinsoji family led by the family head Owolabi Akinsoji and chief organizer, Abayomi Akinsoji and their family members.
Speaking through her grand daughter, Moyo Akinsoji, the joyous celebrant told LEADERSHIP Sunday , that she was so happy to see her 90th birthday which she never believed she will witness in her lifetime.
She thanked God for granting her long life and sound health to this present day. The Iyalode of Ikosi kingdom later received warm greetings and gifts from the guests worldwide in attendance.
