A MAN who was woken up by an alarming “snap” was horrified to find out he had broken his penis in two places.
The unidentified 27-year-old was left writhing in agony after he rolled on his erect member while he slept.

The man, from Tunisia, waited 36 hours before seeking medial attention, doctors wrote in a medical journal.
Staff at Ibn El Jazzar Hospital in Kairouan said he had an “eggplant deformity” — a typical symptom that signifies a penis fracture, the Mail Online reports.
The man needed an operation to repair both of the tears.
Although the penis is not a bone, it can fracture when it’s erect if hit with blunt force.
In most cases a cracking or popping sound is heard.
A fractured member usually resembles an “aubergine” and will swell up and turn purple.
Penis tears usually happen during moments of passion with positions like “doggy” and “cowgirl” thought to be the most risky.
Medics who treated the man claimed the gruesome injury was “followed by immediate detumescence” meaning he lost his erection straight away.
Scans showed two separate tears hich were 3cm apart and measured 10mm and 7mm. Both were repaired using stitches.
Fortunately the man suffered no lasting damage and the swelling went down after two days.
He could also reportedly pass urine normally just four days after the procedure.
A penis fracture happens instantaneously and requires urgent medical treatment.
For a man to get an erection, two spongy tubes called the corpora cavernosa fill up with blood and harden.
These are surrounded by a protective layer known as tunica albuginea.
A fracture happens when this is torn.
Writing in the International Journal of Surgery Case Reports, doctors said that men suffering “two distinct fractures” is a “rarity in the current literature”.
They added: “Single fractures are reported more frequently.”
How a Penis Fractures
Since 1924, 1,600 cases have been recorded worldwide – roughly 16 instances per year, the Telegraph reported in 2017.
Researchers noted that in 50 per cent of cases, an alarming cracking sound can be heard.
Men who break their penis are often left with erectile dysfunction problems and a lifetime of painful sex.

A penis has two columns that fill with blood and make it hard.
These are covered by a protective layer of tissue called the tunica albuginea.
If the tunica albuginea gets torn open then a penis is considered broken – a “severe injury”, says Health Line.
HOW COMMON ARE PENIS FRACTURES?
Penis fractures most commonly occur during vaginal intercourse when the penis can get bent.
Fractures can also happen from a sharp blow to an erect penis or “traumatic masturbation,” according to Heath Line.

PREVENTING A PENIS FRACTURE
The trick to stopping penile injuries is to thrust quite shallowly, according to sex expert Tracey Cox.
Holding your partner close to you using a grinding rather than thrusting motion will also reduce the risk, she told MailOnline.
