Ex-President Donald Trump is a ‘hoarder’ of hairspray and deodorant, said his valet who claims he thought those personal items were in boxes mixed in with classified documents.
Trump’s former bodyman, Walt Nauta, is appealing to have charges he faces as a co-defendant in the classified documents case dismissed. A May 2022 transcript of the FBI’s conversation with Nauta that emerged late Thursday revealed his observations on the items that Trump allegedly hoarded.
Nauta was asked what was inside boxes that he was spotted carrying around Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home.
‘His personal items. So that’s it,’ replied Nauta, according to the transcript shared by Law & Crime.
When an interrogator pressed Nauta on specifics, he replied, ‘Hairspray, shampoo.’
Asked if these toiletries were kept in Trump’s storage rooms, Nauta said: ‘Yes. He is quite the hoarder with these particular items. Deodorant – you know, multiple hairspray cans. That’s – yeah.’
Nauta said he believed the boxes of classified records included hairspray, shampoo, picture frames, newspaper clippings and other random items.
The former valet was charged with conspiring to conceal documents that Trump removed from the White House and lying to the FBI about the location and movement of the boxes containing the sensitive materials.
Nauta, who has pleaded not guilty in the case, also denied telling Trump that he was sitting for an interview with FBI investigators.
