Kwara State government has received a new consignment of 12,058 bags of grains of maize, millet and sorghum from the federal government.
The breakdown of the 12,058 are: 7,042 of 50kg bags of maize; 2,916 of 50kg bags of millet; and 2,100 of 50kg bags of sorghum.
The state commissioner for communications, Mrs Bola Olukoju announced this in a statement yesterday.
Olukoju added that the state government also received 8,700 of 25kg bags of rice.
She said that the minister of agriculture and food security, Senator Abubakar Kyari will flag off the distribution of the grains in the state very soon – in manners that would follow the distribution template sent by the federal government.
“The state government has constantly supported the Kwara public to cope with the inconveniences that trailed the removal of fuel subsidy,” the commissioner said.
