Pep Guardiola has insisted that it is harder to win the Premier League than the Champions League amid their tense fight with Arsenal and Liverpool.
Guardiola’s side, who face Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals on Tuesday, won both competitions and the FA Cup last term to land a treble.
Ahead of their match against the Spanish giants, Guardiola still has one eye on the English top-flight title race, looking to clinch a sixth trophy in seven seasons.
There are just seven games left and City sit third on the table on 70 points, one point behind second-placed Liverpool and Premier League leaders Arsenal.
‘I always said and people don’t believe me, I think the Premier League or the domestic league title are the more difficult ones,’ Guardiola told TNT Sports.
‘Because it is 38 fixtures and being there every single day, and especially the contenders we have this season.’
City host Luton Town in their next Premier League match on Saturday while Liverpool face Palace and Arsenal take on Aston Villa.
Will Arsenal or Liverpool stop Man City?
Manchester City are the current favourites to land the 2023-24 Premier League title, according to Opta’s supercomputer. After the latest round of games, Pep Guardiola’s side have a 39.7% chance of winning the league compared to Liverpool’s 31.3% while Arsenal have a 28% chance of glory.
For now, though, the focus is on their Champions League clash with Real Madrid and Guardiola has hailed their manager Carlo Ancelotti ahead of the first leg.
‘He’s an exceptional person, we have a good relationship,’ Guardiola added. ‘We don’t see each other much. He’s more experienced than me, he’s a little bit older!
‘He’s been in many leagues where he’s had success. How he makes his teams work and all the success [shows] how good he is.’

Meanwhile, City midfielder Rodri has warned his teammates about the threat of Real Madrid superstar Jude Bellingham.
‘We already know Jude from the times we have met Borussia Dotmund,’ Rodri said. ‘We already know the type of player he is.
‘He is so powerful, with strength, and that ability to arrive in the second line. We already know. I don’t like to focus on one player. They have enormous potential across the pitch.’
