A Brit has flown to Morocco for a luxury massage staycation after his local spa charged way more.

Travel content creator Rob Adcock went on a quest to find a cheaper way to get pampered than at his local spa.

It is something the bargain hunter and his friend do every year, but the high prices in England forced the duo to look for alternatives on the African continent.

Adcock, who hosts a podcast on BBC iPlayer alongside making football and travel hack videos, was desperate to swap the drizzle at home for something warmer – and cheaper.

A day pass at a spa in Staffordshire cost £229 per person without an overnight stay.

He told his almost 60,000 followers on TikTok: ‘So I thought, ‘surely there’s got to be a better option somewhere?”

So a quick search of flights online revealed that a less than four hour flight to sunny Agadir in the country’s Atlantic coast cost just £31 from Manchester Airport.

Adcock took his followers along on the journey to the hotel and spa which was revealed to be an oasis of luxury.

It had a massive swimming pool surrounded by palm trees, while the large rooms boasted a sleek interior for £92 each per night.

The spa was ‘perfect’, Adcock enthused.

He said: ‘Two different types of pools. It’s actually perfect. And the massages – they are unreal. The whole experience just thinking about it makes me tingle.’

Spa entry and a massage set him back by £58.92.

Their mission in Morocco proved to be successful – an overnight staycation at the hotel with treatments ended up costing £45 less than a day pass at a Staffordshire spa.

The total price tag, including a couple of quid for an airport bus, was £185.06.

He said: ‘That’s £92 to stay at a place that is a piece of actual heaven.’

However, Adcock said he meant ‘absolutely no shade’ on his local spa.

‘It’s mint. I understand why it’s that price. It’s England. If you’re around here, give it a go. It’s class’.

However, the pair ‘overpaid’ for their flights as eagle-eyed travellers can get them for as cheap as £14.99, Adcock said.

He continued: ‘Let that sink in. That’s getting you to another continent for less than the price of a pizza.’
