The historic Glory Hole pathway has reopened in Lincoln after a year-long closure for major repairs.
The riverside attraction was shut by Lincolnshire County Council after it was deemed unsafe last year.
Initially it was thought only minor repairs would be needed, but a closer look into the Glory Hole made it clear that it needed extensive works.
Lincolnshire County Council said limited access to the site resulted in delays, as they had to receive permissions before beginning work.
Councillor Richard Davies, who is the executive member for highways at Lincolnshire Council, described the project as ‘challenging’.
‘I’m really glad to announce that our improvements to Lincoln’s Glory Hole are now fully complete – meaning that the footway is back open as usual.
‘Getting to this point has been a long, arduous process for everyone involved, simply because of the nature of Glory Hole and where it sits.’
