Crash causes massive 11-mile queues on major UK motorway

Part of the M1 is at a standstill this rush hour impacting drivers on their morning commute.

There are lengthy queues between junctions 9 and 11 of the northbound carriageway, according to National Highways.

Delays in the area are currently between 30 and 40 minutes long with one lane closure in place.

Live data shows traffic is starting to move around junction 13.

It is expected the tailbacks will also cause delays for people heading to Luton Airport.

While the crash has been cleared, there are still long tailbacks and it is expected the section of the motorway will not be clear again until 8.45am.
