A 5.5 magnitude earthquake rattled the greater New York area on Friday morning in a shocking rare occurrence.
The tremor struck around 10.23am and was felt in New York City and many parts of the state.
Preliminary information suggested that the epicenter was 20 miles north of Plainfield, New Jersey.
