The blaze in South Yorkshire shut the motorway to both directions

A motorway has shut after a lorry burst into flames this morning.

The A1M in South Yorkshire closed in both directions after a lorry caught on fire.

The closure is between J34 Blyth and J35 Wadworth J35.

Drivers should expect delays until 12.15pm, National Highways warned.

Diversions are in place northbound via the A614 and A638 to the M180 and M18.

Motorists heading south should follow the square symbol using the above roads in reverse order, National Highways said.

Firefighters are on the scene tackling the blaze.
