It may be, say experts, because the better general health associated with eating well cuts the risk of erection problems for men as they age.
For women it improves blood flow and mood, which are important for good sex, the researchers have discovered.
They tracked 10,671 Finnish adults to determine the importance of a healthy fruit and veg-rich diet to getting frisky.
Exercise, and drinking and smoking habits, were also analysed.
Nine years later, people were asked how happy they were with their sex lives on a scale of one to seven — and the healthy eaters scored best.
Dr Säde Stenlund, from the University of Turku, said: “Our study suggests it contributes to sustained or improved satisfaction with sex life over time.
“This could motivate people to have healthy behaviour.”
It is good news for the UK as Brits are the best in the Western world at getting their five a day.
The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development found a third of us hit the target — tied at the top spot with Ireland out of 30 rich nations.
The NHS says almost all fruit and veg count towards the quota, and they don’t have to be fresh.
