The North East Youth Initiative for Development, (NEYIF), has condemned the recent killing of one person in Nayi-nawa, Damaturu Local Government Area, Yobe State by yet to be identified criminals.
The group raised the concern in a statement signed by its Executive Director, Dauda Muhammad Gombe and made available to newsmen Damaturu.
While commiserating with the family of the victim, NEYIF tasked security agencies to intensify effort in addressing the ugly trend in the metropolis.
“You may recall that a few days ago, a similar incident occurred leading to the death of a promising, devoted and upright young man who served as a breadwinner for his family.
“The fact that this is coming just weeks after the first incident is a call for concern and action by both government, security and community structures”, the group stated.
NEYIF’s Executive Director assured that the organisation was committed to providing necessary support within its capacity to complement the continuous effort of stakeholders at different levels.
“It is based on this therefore, that we call on the State Government, Damaturu Local Government, Damaturu Emirate Council, Security Agencies, Police and NSCDC and other relevant stakeholders to not just enforce preventive measures to stop further of such incident but to equally ensure that all suspected individuals associated with these killings are brought to book.
“This will not only serve as a deterrent measure, but will also build citizens’ resilience, confidence and respect for the rule of law”, he said.
