The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, AYCF, has urged all Nigerians to remain vigilant against any attempt by corrupt politicians to subvert democracy.
It called on law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute those who seek to undermine Nigeria’s hard-earned democratic system.
The President-General of the AYCF, Yerima Shettima, in a statement on Wednesday in Kaduna, expressed concerns over the efforts of some corrupt political actors to undermine the nation’s democracy.
He said, “it is disheartening to witness a group of unscrupulous individuals attempting to sow seed of discord among leaders for their own selfish political gains.”
The forum lamented the continuous attempts of certain northern politicians to drive a wedge in the relationship between President Tinubu and Defence Minister Bello Matawalle, emphasising that the corrupt politicians are uncomfortable with the support and promotion Matawalle provides to Tinubu’s interests in the North.
Shettima alleged that Matawalle is targeted for his resilience against the recent rumors of instigation of the military to undermine democracy.
The AYCF said it stands firm in its commitment to preserving the democratic values of the nation and ensuring that such manipulative tactics do not hinder the democratic process.
Shettima further assured that the forum remains committed to supporting leaders who prioritize Nigeria’s development over personal gain and would continue to advocate for policies that benefit all Nigerians.
