The Immediate past chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Enugu State, Dr. Ben Nwoye has called on the party’s National Vice Chairman, South-East, Dr. Ijeomah Arodiogbu, to call the Enugu State APC chairman, Barr. Ugochukwu Agballah to order.
Nwoye said if urgent measures were not taken, Agballah’s actions would plunge the party into more crisis and ruin its future.
He made the call while addressing journalists in Enugu on Tuesday.
The foundation chairman of the party in the state condemned what he called the reckless manner with which Agballah has been suspending prominent party stakeholders, including the former Senate President, Ken Nnamani, former governor, Sullivan Chime, former Speaker Enugu State House of Assembly, Eugene Odo, himself, Nwoye, among others.
According to Nwoye, to save APC in Enugu State and galvanise it for future elections, Agballah’s excesses have to be investigated and his soaring wings clipped.
He said that though the emergence of Agballah as the party’s chairman was questionable, they overlooked it.
He, however, advised that Agballah should be father to all and bring members together.
Nwoye’s comment is coming in reaction to the resolution by the party’s stakeholders during a meeting in Enugu last week, where they expressed readiness to reconsider the expulsion and suspension of some members.
But Nwoye asked Arodiogbu to caution Agballah over the way he has been abusing key stakeholders of the party, as well as incessant announcement of suspensions.
“I am appealing to the South-East Zonal Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Dr Ijeomah Arodiogbu to set up a committee and investigate Ugo Agballah for abusing Senator Ken Nnamani and former governor, Sullivan Chime.
“They don’t deserve the abuses that Agballah is giving to them.
“We need to rebuild APC in Enugu State. We need to come together so that we will do better in future elections.
“It is the duty of Arodiogbu to call Agballah to order in order to move the party forward. Arodiogbu should advise Agballah.
“We can rebuild the party to get APC to win in 2027,” he said.
Nwoye equally declared that Agballah was trying to launder his image by using the entrance of Senator Chukwuka Utazi and former Minister of Aviation, Fidelia Njeze and others into the party as if it was his personal effort.
“He cannot use Utazi and Njeze to launder his battered image,” Nwoye said, pointing out that the new entrants should have been registered in their wards instead of parading them at the state level.
