Police operatives in Bauchi State have arrested one Isyaku Babale, a 30-year-old resident of Anguwan Dawaki in Bauchi metropolis, for allegedly stabbing his older brother to death after an argument that ensued between them.
LEADERSHIP gathered that on Sunday, March 31, 2024, an argument had ensued when the suspect asked the victim to stop taking Cold Patch Liquid popularly known as ‘Sholi’ in their room because of the unpleasant odour of the liquid. Both of them became furious at each other and began fighting.
Shortly after, the suspect ran and picked a sharp object suspected to be a knife and stabbed the victim in his stomach.
Investigations revealed that both the suspect and the victim used to engage in fighting using dangerous weapons against each other.
Confirming the incident in a press release, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Bauchi State Command, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, on Monday, said the suspect was arrested following a report received by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO, Township Police Station Bauchi.
“Detectives from the division were drafted to the scene immediately. They rushed the victim to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) but was certified dead by a medical doctor.
“Therefore, this development prompted the detectives to initiate a manhunt for the suspect. Consequently, the suspect was traced and apprehended near Kasuwan Shanu area of Bauchi metropolis,” he said.
The State’s Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Musa Mohammed, has ordered a discreet investigation into the incident to unravel more motives behind the action of the suspect afterwhich be will charged to court for prosecution.
