This is the harrowing moment moment a man plummeted to his death after his parachute became entangled.

Footage shows the paraglider in the middle of a flight during the ‘Discovering the Great Forest – Sa Thay 2024’ Kon Tum tournament in Vietnam.

The 39-year-old paraglider, who has not yet been named, was attempting to land in an empty field.

In the video, the cords of his parachute become all tangled up while he is still up in the air.

Moments later, he is seen crashing to the ground to the horror of people who had gathered to watch the tournament.

Two people can be seen racing towards him as the footage comes to an end.

The incident happened on Saturday in Sa Thay District, in the Kon Tum Province.

The man, who is said to have been a resident of Hanoi, was taken to the Kon Tum Hospital.

Reports from local media suggest he died from injuries to his brain and chest.

Doctor Vo Van Thien, director of Kon Tum Provincial General Hospital, told local media that the victim was admitted in a deep coma.

He had suffered from multiple traumatic brain injuries, chest injuries, and broken bones.

The doctor added that he died after three hours of emergency treatment.

The paragliding tournament was part of Kon Tum Tourism Culture Week 2024.

It was organised by the People’s Committee of Sa Thay district in collaboration with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Kon Tum province, and 127 athletes are said to have participated in the event.
