Londoners are being urged to take extra precautions as the top 10 worst spots for burglary in the city have been revealed.
The Metropolitan Police investigated a total of 61,319 burglaries between January 2023 and January 2024 – but 51,229 went unsolved.
This has left Londoners feeling anxious about how to protect their homes, as certain parts of the city are more at risk than others, according to data collated by SECOM.
The home security experts analysed Metropolitan police data and found Westminster takes the top spot for burglaries with a staggering 3,374 reports.
With a population of 204,200 people, this amounts to a rate of 16.5 burglaries per 1,000 residents.
Keeping in central London, Kensington and Chelsea reported 1,635 burglaries amount its 143,400 population.
This means a burglary rate of 11.4 per 1,000 residents, putting it as the second worst area.
Camden is the third most prominent hot spot, recording 2,350 burglaries within its population of 210,100, leaving it with a a burglary rate of 11.19 per 1,000 residents.

Camden – 11.19 per 1,000 residents
Hackney – 10.3 per 1,000 residents
Islington – 9.46 per 1,000 residents
Southwark – 8.74 per 1,000 residents
Tower Hamlets – 8.69 per 1,000 residents
Hammersmith and Fulham – 8 per 1,000 residents
Enfield – 7.37 per 1,000 residents
Lewisham – 7.32 per 1,000 residents
Home security expert Alan Blake said: ‘To put these figures in perspective, the average burglary rate for Greater London between January 2023 to 2024 was 4.03.
‘It’s clear that residents within the boroughs mentioned are living with a significantly heightened risk of burglary.’
Mr Blake said Londoners should always check the locks on their doors and keep valuables out of sight to help reduce the risk of burglary.

‘To bolster home security, individuals should double-check locks on doors and windows before leaving and utilise timers for indoor lights,’ he said.
‘It’s also wise to inform trusted neighbours of absences for added vigilance.
‘Additionally, securing valuables out of sight and ensuring car security is crucial.
‘Investing in home security systems, regularly testing alarms, and positioning surveillance cameras strategically are effective preventive measures.’
