A ‘rogue’ electric Jaguar worth nearly £50,000 damaged three high-end cars as its owner was left powerless.
Andrew Key was driving his Jaguar E-Pace outside a railway station in Bournemouth when he claims his car suddenly reversed into a Porsche Boxster parked behind him.
The Jaguar mounted the black convertible, ending up on its roof – and despite slamming on the brakes, Mr Key said his car then went forwards and crashed into a Tesla Model Y.
The Tesla then damaged a Mercedes C-Class vehicle – luckily, no one was hurt in the dramatic collision.
But more than £150,000 in damage was inflicted on the four vehicles and caught on the dash camera of both the Jaguar and Tesla.
Mr Key has said he is not to blame for the collision, saying his Jaguar ‘became faulty’ – but still received a fixed penalty notice from Dorset Police.

Mr Key said: ‘They said it was my fault and that I hit the accelerator. I didn’t. I’m a civilian advanced driver and I’ve had a really excellent safety record and I haven’t done anything like this before.
‘I even went to hospital later on just to be sure I’ve not had a brain episode or a stroke, but I’m fine.
‘My contention is that Jaguar provided me with a defective and dangerous vehicle, which resulted in a dramatic crash in which, miraculously, no one was seriously hurt.
‘Given that this occurred outside a busy train station, next to a large Asda and a busy coach and bus station at rush hour, someone could easily have been killed.
‘It was an event in which significant energy was deployed. So why didn’t the following systems deploy: collision avoidance, seatbelt warnings, SOS assistance, air bags.’
Mr Key added: ‘There was a lady in the Tesla and she was really upset. Then the Porsche owner appeared and she was very upset and was crying and distressed.
‘All I could do was tell them it wasn’t my fault and that the car moved on its own accord and that it wasn’t my fault but they didn’t believe me.’

Mr Key said he complained to the Jaguar branch where he bought his car, but they ‘stopped responding’ to his emails.
He added: ‘I’m not interested in compensation, a new car or anything like that. There is something wrong with these cars and Jaguar needs to do something about it before someone is killed.’
A spokesman for Dorset Police said: ‘At 5.28pm on October 18, 2023, Dorset Police received a report of a four-vehicle road traffic collision at Bournemouth railway station. Officers attended the scene.
‘No injuries were reported and following enquiries by officers, no arrests were made. A 60-year-old man from Bournemouth received a fixed penalty notice for a driving offence.’
