Manchester City star, Kyle Walker will undergo tests to determine the severity of the hamstring injury he suffered in England’s friendly defeat to Brazil.

Walker, who captained the Three Lions on Saturday night in the absence of Harry Kane, raced to his side’s aid early in the first-half after Vinicius Jr almost opened the scoring for the visitors.

The Real Madrid star slid his effort past Jordan Pickford in the England goal but Walker raced back to prevent it crossing the line before clearing to safety.

The 33-year-old appeared to injure his left hamstring in the process, going down and receiving treatment from the England medical staff.

After briefly attempting to play on, he was replaced by Ezri Konsa who came on for his international debut.

England fell to a 1-0 defeat with Endrick scoring the only goal of the game on Saturday night.

Walker will now surely be a doubt for England’s friendly match against Belgium on Tuesday but the sight of him being replaced will be of far greater concern to Man City who are in a three-way battle for the Premier League title – a fight that resumes with a clash against Arsenal on 31 March immediately after the international break.

Asked about Walker’s injury at full-time, Gareth Southgate told Channel 4: ‘We don’t know yet. He is feeling something but he is not a player who is injured very often so he’s not quite certain what it is.

‘So it is something we have to assess in the coming days.’

England laboured against a weakened Brazil side in the capital with 17-year-old sensation Endrick coming off the bench to score a winner 10 minutes from full-time.

Missing Harry Kane up front, Southgate admitted a lack of cutting edge up front cost his side on the night.

‘There were lots of very good performances. It is a top level game and we have controlled long parts of it.

‘We had as many attempts as them on goal but in the end it is that ruthless moment that decides the game.

‘We’ve had a lot of players go on, a couple of debuts and some really important individual performances for us.’
