Manchester United have handed Arsenal and Liverpool a major boost in their bid to sign Dortmund winger Donyell Malen this summer.
The Dutchman was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford in January, after falling out of favour at Dortmund.
Given Jadon Sancho joined the Germans from United on loan, the Red Devils had leverage over Dortmund.
The Bundesliga giants are keen to keep Sancho and so United could have used their interest in Malen in negotiations.
But Sky Germany say United have cooled their interest in the winger, who has 13 goals and five assists this season.

That’s a boost for Arsenal and Liverpool, who have registered their interest in the former PSV Eindhoven ace.
Malen has made it clear to Dortmund’s bosses that he wants to leave this club and they are minded to sell him.
The club hope to raise around £42m through the sale of Malen, who they bought for £25m in 2021.
Dortmund will then use the money to bid for Sancho, who they sold to Manchester United for £73m in 2021.
United are ready to take a major hit on Sancho, and will listen to bids in the region of £40m.
