A young acrobat has suffered serious injuries after falling from 12ft in the air in a trapeze act gone wrong.
Horrified families and children watched as 24-year-old Elizaveta Chumakova slip from a trapeze ring. She was hanging upside down by her feet but slipped as she reached up to grab the ring with her hand.
Elizaveta managed to spin in midair and land feet first, but despite this she still crashed heavily to the ground and lay motionless on the ground until circus staff rushed to her aid.
Heart-stopping footage shows the moment she slipped and fell – though Metro.co.uk has cut the video so as not to show the moment she hit the floor.
She was rushed out of the circus ring on a stretcher and taken to hospital following the stunt gone wrong in Novosibirsk, Russia’s third largest city.
There was no safety net in place to break her fall, but Elizaveta was said to have still been conscious as she was taken to hospital.

A spokesperson for the Gia Eradze circus said: ‘She is in the First City Hospital.
‘Doctors are taking care of her. But so far no accurate diagnoses have been given.
’She is in touch with us. So far, all the circumstances are being clarified.’
The spokesperson added that Elizaveta has worked in the circus for 10 years, and this is the first time she has fallen.
It’s thought she suffered fractures to her hip and foot but that these injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
The circus issued a quote from her as she lay in hospital saying she had fallen when her ‘favourite’ left foot failed as she sought to grab the ring with her hand.
She told her fans: ‘It wasn’t too high…I am alive.’
