Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has admitted he asked Mohamed Salah to do something he had never done before in his managerial career on Thursday night.
With Liverpool virtually through to the quarter finals of the Europa League after a 5-1 win in the first leg, the Reds needed only to avoid a miracle at Anfield on Thursday night.
Nevertheless, Klopp selected a strong side which included Salah, who was making his first start for the club since New Year’s Day.
That’s despite the fact that the Reds travel to rivals Manchester United on Sunday for a place in the FA Cup semi-finals.
But, in preparation for that trip to Old Trafford, Klopp admits that he made a request that he’d never made before in his managerial career by asking Salah ‘not to run’ in order to avoid injury.

‘He is experienced enough that he could recover during the game,’ said Klopp.
‘I told him not to run; I don’t think I’ve ever told a player to do that before!’
Liverpool scored three in four minutes within the first ten minutes at Anfield to end the very slim hopes Prague had of progressing.
Salah scored following goals from Darwin Nunez and Bobby Clark, who scored his first senior goal.
