Jamie Carragher stunned his fellow pundits into silence (Picture: CBS)
Jamie Carragher made an on-air joke about Kate Abdo’s boyfriend stood next to Thierry Henry which fell flat in an awkward exchange on Tuesday.
Carragher, Henry and Micah Richards were on punditry duties for CBS Sports alongside presenter Abdo for Arsenal’s Champions League clash with Porto.
The trio of pundits have previously teased Abdo for her relationship with her boyfriend Malik Scott but Carragher took the banter a step too far at the Emirates.
Fans on social media have a long-running joke that Henry has a romantic crush on Abdo but the former Arsenal striker is in a relationship with Andrea Rajacic.
That didn’t stop Carragher from poking fun at the duo as Arsenal beat Porto on penalties at the Emirates to book their spot in the Champions League last eight.
Speaking after the match, Carragher was seen wearing an Arsenal shirt and said: ‘You (Thierry Henry) are wearing [an Arsenal shirt] next, for the last part you (Kate Abdo) are going to wear it.’
Abdo insisted that she she would not wear the Arsenal shirt because she is ‘loyal’ which promoted Carragher to ask ‘to whom?’.

‘Manchester United, thank you very much,’ Abdo replied, before Carragher added: ‘Not to Malik!’
Carragher went red in the face and laughed nervously as Henry and Richards were stunned into silence.
Abdo, visibly frustrated at Carragher’s remark, then said: ‘Why would you even say that?’
