A woman hoisted into the air by a shop’s electrical shutters has become a bit of a sensation and now stars in her own advert.

Anne Hughes, 71, was left dangling helplessly after she was scooped up by the shutters at Best One Shop in Tonteg, Wales, on Monday.

The store’s cleaner was taken for the unsuspecting ride – and her employers saw the funny side to it all.

They posted the video to their Facebook page with the caption: ‘Don’t hang about like Anne, come down to best one to get the best deals!!! The only thing going up in this shop is our staff, not the prices!!’

Speaking from her home near the shop, Anne said: ‘I was just stood there when my coat got caught and up I went. I thought flipping heck!

‘People say it could happen to anyone… no, it could only happen to me! It’s just lucky I’ve got a good sense of humour.’

The CCTV footage shows Anne leaning against the shutters, relaxing and waiting for the store to open.

Before she knows what’s happening, her coat gets trapped in the shutters. As they begin to rise, she tries to unhook herself – to no avail.

She is then rescued by the shopkeeper (Picture: bestonetonteg1)

Anne is then left precariously dangling for around 12 seconds before the shopkeeper runs out to rescue her.

He holds her head to avoid her hitting the ground and manages to return her to the pavement safely.

The video ends with the shopkeeper unhooking Anne as she stands upright and returns to her day.

Anne has a bruised face and black eye but says this is from a separate incident.

She said: ‘I’ve been suffering falls for the past six months or so and the doctors up the hospital think it’s from low blood pressure – it was going up then.

‘I was lucky my coat didn’t break because I really didn’t want to land on my face again.’

The CCTV footage was posted to social media on Monday and people quickly saw the funny side.
