Thomas Tuchel has revealed he broke a toe while delivering his team talk ahead of Bayern Munich’s comeback win in the Champions League.
After losing the first-leg of their last 16 tie against Lazio 1-0, Bayern needed a big result and performance in order to get their season back on track.
And the German giants delivered, with two goals from Harry Kane either side of a Thomas Muller header securing a 3-0 victory and their place in the quarter-finals.
The Champions League maybe the only trophy Bayern win this season with the club out of the German Cup and 10 points behind Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga with just 10 games to go.
The dismal form means that Tuchel will depart the Allianz Arena in the summer no matter what happens between now and the end of the season, but the former Chelsea manager is determined to end his tenure on a high.
Beating Lazio will help matters in Munich, but it seems Tuchel may have gone a little too far to inspire his team ahead of kick-off.
Speaking to CBS post-match, the German said: ‘In my last speech before we went out before the match, I kicked the door and it was the wrong technique.
‘So I think… it feels like I broke it [his toe]! It hurts, it’s painful.’
The 50-year-old was later seen limping out of the Allianz Arena in some discomfort.
