A Lamborghini Huracán driver did a runner after crashing the supercar in a botched attempt to flee police.

Derbyshire Police signalled for the driver to pull over after failing to stop near Chesterfield over the weekend.

Instead the driver kept going, which proved to be a costly mistake.

The sports car’s top speed of 201.9mph and ability to accelerate from zero to 62mph in just 2.9 seconds should make it fast enough to outrun police.

But ‘the power far outweighed the talent’ of the driver ‘and it stopped as quickly’ when they lost control of the Italian car.

The white car span off road and slammed into barriers.

It crashed with such for the £250,000 car’s rear tyre was torn off and it was left with a crumpled bumper.

The reckless driver then made off on foot.

Now the police have issued a warning to the culprit.

Sharing pictures of the battered remains, Derbyshire police said: ‘Driver of this Lamborghini Huracán fails to stop for our @CfieldPolice colleagues.

‘Despite acceleration of 0-62mph in 2.9 seconds the power far outweighed the talent and it stopped as quickly.

‘Driver made off but we will be catching up with them soon!’

The Lamborghini Huracán was first introduced in 2014.

Since then there’s been a series of dramatic crashes involving the supercars on British roads.

One 24-year-old crumpled the bonnet of their £100,000 Huracán just a month after winning it in a raffle last year.

The youngster blamed a cow hitting the car’s rear for making him spin out.

He said: ‘‘F**k the lot of you sharing the photo of the Lambo and trying to say it’s my fault doing 150mph haha. Mad b******s.’
