Jude Bellingham has been praised by Thierry Henry for the way he has effortlessly navigated his first few months at Real Madrid.

The England international is enjoying a stellar first season with the Spanish giants, with the 16 goals he has netted this season seeing him perched at the top of the La Liga goalscoring charts.

But it’s not just Bellingham’s goalscoring exploits which have caught the eye so far this season, with his dominant all-round midfield displays cementing his position as one of the best players in the game.

‘This guy right now. Take a bow. And I’m not a Real Madrid guy we all know,’ Henry said of the Birmingham City academy graduate.

‘But the first time I saw him playing for England that was it. This was a game vs San Marino, if I’m not mistaken, whatever it was, but he wanted every single ball.

‘Whenever I see him, he doesn’t shy away. He wants the ball.

‘And I think that the system and this is why you have to give a lot of credit to managers, the system that Ancelotti put for him 4-3-1-2 he answered the call so well done.

‘I will always say to people look, I had the opportunity to play in Italy, I played in France, I went to the US, played in Spain. Footballers are a bit easy in England, the pressure that you have to endure in Spain, this is what makes it even more special.

‘You have a show every night about Real Madrid, or Barcelona papers are six to seven marks a night about Real Madrid, the pressure, the press, you know how the expectation you take number five of Zidane.

‘And when you celebrate you’re like this, oh, well done, mate.’

Despite his heroics for Los Blancos this term, Bellingham has endured a frustrating past few weeks.

The 20 year-old picked up an ankle injury in Madrid’s top-of-the-table clash with Girona on February 2, which forced him to sit out the club’s next three games.

Bellingham was then sent off after the full-time whistle against Valencia last weekend, just seconds after he thought he had won the game with a header six minutes into stoppage time.

But referee Gil Manzano had blown the full-time whistle as Brahim Diaz delivered his cross into the box, much to the frustration of Bellingham, who was subsequently given his marching orders for confronting the referee.
