A sabotage attack exploded a Russian electrical substation that supplies three defence-related plants, according to reports.
An ‘improvised explosive device’ caused the blast at Kalininskaya after security at the substation was breached.
There was an ‘explosion and a bright flash’, and traces of explosives were found at the scene of the incident,’ according to reports.
The Kalininskaya substation supplies energy to three defence enterprises, named MZiK, Turbomotorny and Uralmash.
It is the latest in a spate of attacks – some by kamikaze drones, others caused by sabotage – on key strategic facilities related to Russia’s defence, energy, industrial and transport sectors during Vladimir Putin’s war against Ukraine.
The nighttime explosion is believed to have disrupted power supplies.
There were no casualties, said reports.

It remains unclear who was responsible for the blast in Yekaterinburg, a key industrial city two time zones from the war.
Russian security services are tasked with discovering how the sabotage attack occurred.
The substation itself is surrounded by a concrete wall, and the entrance is through a guarded checkpoint, say reports.
The plants produce metals, cement and mining equipment and are reportedly linked to Putin’s defence sector.
Ukraine has claimed Russian ‘partisans’ are working behind enemy links to harm Putin’s war effort.
