Lady Gabriella Windsor’s husband Thomas Kingston died earlier this week with the Royal family paying tribute to the ‘exceptional man who lit up the love of all who knew him.’

In a statement released on behalf of Lady Gabriella and her family, they said that Mr Kingston’s death has ‘come as a great shock to the whole family’.

A Buckingham Palace spokesperson said: ‘The King and The Queen have been informed of Thomas’s death and join Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and all those who knew him in grieving a much-loved member of the family.

‘In particular, Their Majesties send their most heartfelt thoughts and prayers to Gabriella and to all the Kingston family.’

Who is Lady Gabriella Windsor?

Lady Gabriella Windsor is the daughter of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent.

Lady Gabriella was born on April 23, 1981 in St. Mary’s Hospital in London. She grew up in an apartment in Kensington Palace. The Queen had famously paid the rent on the apartment until 2008, when members of Parliament demanded Prince and Princess Michael pay the full market-rate amount of £120,000.

How is she related to King Charles?

She was formerly known as Lady Gabriella Windsor and is 56th in line to the British throne behind her niece, Isabella Windsor.

As their fathers were brothers, the Queen and Prince Michael of Kent were cousins, meaning Lady Gabriella is a second cousin of King Charles.

Known as Ella to friends, at her birth she was 18th in line to the throne.

Lady Gabriella reportedly had a close relationship with the late Queen Elizabeth II.

The Queen attended Lady Gabriella’s wedding to Mr Kingston in October 2019.

During June 2022’s Platinum Jubilee festivities, the couple were pictured at the National Service of Thanksgiving for the Queen held at St Paul’s Cathedral.

Lady Gabriella was pictured with her royal relatives and her husband at the Queen’s funeral back in September 2022.

When did she marry Thomas Kingston?

Lady Gabriella married Thomas Kingston in 2019.

Lady Gabriella and Thomas Kingston sparked an unbreakable bond when they met in 2014 – and later tied the knot in a lavish royal ceremony.

The pair announced their engagement in 2018 and walked down the aisle together at St George’s Chapel in 2019.

Their intimate ceremony in St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle was attended by several senior members of the royal family including the Queen and Prince Harry.

Lady Gabriella attended the Queen’s funeral in 2022 alongside her husband.

They were last pictured today on Valentine’s Day at an event celebrating the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s First Folio.
