Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has come under fire after calling a female reporter a ‘good girl’ in a tetchy interview in which he refused to elaborate on a comment he had made.
The Scottish champions’ performances have been a little sketchy recently and they looked to be heading to another disappointing draw away to Motherwell on Sunday.
But stoppage-time goals from Adam Idah and Luis Palma secured a much-needed 3-1 win to keep pace with league leaders Rangers.
Far from being happy with the late victory, Rodgers cut an irritable figure afterwards in a spiky interview with BBC Radio Scotland’s Jane Lewis.
The Northern Irishman seemed to be unhappy with media coverage of his side and the ‘story being written’ about his players, but then repeatedly shot down Lewis when asked to explain his grievances.
After a terse back and forth, Rodgers can be heard giving the microphone back and going to walk away – but not before aiming a parting shot at the reporter.
Abruptly cutting off Lewis, he is heard saying: ‘Okay? Done. Good girl. Well done.’

BR: ‘There’s a story being written about this group, so we will write our own story.’
JL: Can you give us-
BR: ‘No.’
JL: You can’t give us-
BR: ‘No.’
JL: You don’t want to give us a bit more insight into that and what you mean?
BR: ‘No, no. You know exactly what I mean.’
JL: I’m actually not sure I do exactly know what you mean.
BR: ‘Okay.’
JL: Can you tell us-
BR: ‘No.’
JL: People might be interest to know-
BR: ‘No, no.’
JL: But you’re the one that’s bringing that up…
BR: ‘Yes, absolutely.’
JL: So can you not give us some more on it?
BR: ‘Okay, done. Good girl. Well done. Cheers. Good girl.’
JL: There you go, he’s done.
Rodgers repeated the words a second time, though Lewis and a BBC Scotland colleague laughed off the exchange, saying: ‘There you go, he’s done.’
A clip of Rodgers’ interview was later posted on social media where it has since gone viral, with the former Liverpool boss accused of casual sexism for his comments and abrasive tone.
A spokeswoman from the Scottish Feminist Network said: ‘Jane Lewis was just doing her job, trying to extract an explanation from Brendan Rodgers on his cryptic comment.

Campaigners at For Women Scotland were also unhappy with the exchange, saying: ‘It’s depressing that casual sexism is still embedded in sport.
‘Women’s achievements are underrated and dismissed, and their professional status undermined. Rodgers owes the reporter an apology.’
Lewis, who has decades of experience, has not commented on the matter since the clip of the exchange went viral, though according to the Daily Mail she is ‘unfazed’ by Rodgers’ remark.
