A philanthropist and televangelist, Dr Azemhe Azena, has emerged the candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), for the September 21 gubernatorial election in Edo State.
Azena polled 211 votes to defeat three other aspirants in the primary held at Depraisery Event Centre, Ugor Road, in Benin City on Friday.
A statement issued by the national publicity secretary of the party, Hon. Yakubu Shendam, said the result was announced by the chairman of the NNPP Edo State primary election committee, Sen. Kawu Sumaila, who declared Azena the winner by beating Peter Okieguale who polled 100 votes to the second position, while Rev. Sebastian Iyere and Balogun Engeyemhe polled 25 votes and 17 votes for the third and fourth position respectively.
Azena is the regional pastor of Omega Fire Ministry South-South and hails from Okpekpe, Etsako-East in the Edo North senatorial zone.
