A lorry driver has died and three people have been arrested after a car crash on the westbound stretch of the M27 near Southampton.
A Mercedes lorry, Nissan Juke and Volkswagen Polo were involved in the collection on Wednesday afternoon at junction five which runs into the city airport.
The lorry driver, in his 30s, died at the scene.
A woman, who was in the Nissan, suffered minor injuries.
Two men, aged 32 and 37 and a woman, 40, have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
The trio, all of no fixed abode, remain in hospital, Hampshire Police said last night as it issued a witness appeal.

‘Officers remain at the scene and the westbound carriageway between junctions nine and five will be closed overnight,’ the force added.
‘We apologise for any inconvenience caused and will update you when we have further details on the circumstances of the collision.’
National Highways, a government agency which manages Britain’s motorways, said at 9am that the M27 westbound remains closed between J9 Fareham and J5 Southampton.

Highway officials said an overhead gantry was damaged in a collision, with the ‘complex’ work expected to take days.
‘This closure will remain closed until possibly tonight while emergency works take place throughout the day/evening,’ the Southeast branch of the agency said on X.
‘There are delays of 60 minutes in the area.’
