Bayern Munich have seen enough from Eric Dier during his loan spell from Tottenham and they do not intend to extend his stay beyond this season.

The 30-year-old moved to the German giants on an initial six-month loan in January, with Bayern holding an option to keep him on a permanent deal for a further year.

His contract at Tottenham expires in the summer so he appears to have no future there, but Bayern Munich are also not keen to keep hold of him, according to reports in Germany.

Bild report that there are doubts over the England international’s ‘ability and lack of pace’ which will likely mean he is not at the club next season.

The former Sporting defender has played just five times for Bayern Munich since joining in January, three times from the start.

Two of those appearances came in recent defeats to Bayer Leverkusen and Bochum, with Bayern going through something of a sticky spell under Thomas Tuchel.

On signing Dier in January, Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund said: ‘We’re pleased we’ve been able to sign Eric Dier.

‘He’s long been in our thinking for this transfer window. Eric will be a valuable part of our defence.

‘His sporting abilities and international experience will help the team both on the pitch and in the changing room.’
