Sequel to the recent security challenges that bedevilled Mangu LGA of Plateau State and claimed scores of lives, properties and means of livelihood of residents, the paramount ruler of the council, Miskhagham Mwaghavul, Da John Hirse said what happened in the locality was not religious as being speculated but purely a case of land grabbing.
He also said most of the attacks on communities in the LGA were unprovoked.
Hirse disclosed this when the immediate past Senator who represented Plateau South Senatorial zone, Nora Daduut, paid him a condolence visit.
He said, “What happened in Mangu was not religious as speculated in some quarters but a pure case of land grabbing.
“What happened to us was unexpected, as several villages were overrun by gunmen, we are peaceful people, the only weapon we have is prayers
“Most of the attacks meted on communities in the council were unprovoked”.
Hirse commended Senator Daduut for remembering the community and prayed God to reward her.
“Despite the fact that you are no longer in office, you are still coming to show love to the people of this council .”
Daduut had earlier said she visited to commiserate with the people of Mangu Local Government Council over the recent unfortunate attacks.
She said, “These series of attacks have inflicted a lot of pain on the people of Mangu Local government.
“The victims really need a lot of relief materials to cushion the effect of these pains, and I have come today in my small way to support.
She appealed to government and security agencies to ensure improvement in security surveillance, so that normalcy would return to the affected communities.
