The Body Shop has called in administrators with seven of its 199 shops closing its doors immediately.
Yesterday administrators FRP Advisory revealed four stores in London and three others across the UK would shut for good.
Other stores are expected to continue trading until further updates from insolvency experts overseeing the process are completed.
Previously, it said it would ‘consider all options to find a way forward’, all of those shops are at risk of closure.
Administrators from FRP Advisory said in a statement: ‘After years of unprofitability and following a full evaluation of The Body Shop’s UK business, the joint administrators have concluded that the current store portfolio mix is no longer viable.
‘This swift action will help re-energise The Body Shop’s iconic brand and provide it with the best platform to achieve its ambition to be a modern, dynamic beauty brand that is able to return to profitability and compete for the long term.’

The Body Shop was founded in 1976 by Anita Roddick and her husband Gordon. It was one of the first companies to focus on ethically produced cosmetics and skincare.
The business’s new owners, European private equity firm Aurelius, only took over in January after buying it from Brazilian cosmetics giant Natura & Co for £207 million.
The announcement comes at a challenging time for retailers, as years of financial struggles caused by the coronavirus lockdowns and the rise of online shopping have hit high street shops hard.
Last year bargain retailer Wilko went into administration, and Paperchase was forced to close all of its shops.
