David Seaman has hailed Pedro Neto as a ‘special player’ but has urged Arsenal not to sign the Wolves winger this summer.
The Portugal international was targeted by the Gunners 18 months ago as they looked to add a player to their squad who could provide cover and competition for Bukayo Saka.
Wolves refused to countenance and manage to keep hold of a player who subsequently suffered a serious knee injury that ruled him out of action for over nine months.
The 23-year-old has been in superb form since his return to full fitness and enhanced his burgeoning reputation with superb displays during Wolves’ recent wins over Chelsea and Tottenham.
Seaman, however, believes Arsenal already have enough high-quality options in wide areas and sees no reason why they should reignite their interest in one of the Premier League’s most in-form players.
‘Would I take Pedro Neto at Arsenal? When you look at what’s in there already in the Arsenal team, you don’t really want to disrupt that, so probably not,’ the former Arsenal goalkeeper told Parimatch.
‘But he’s a special player for Wolves. What I loved about the Wolves performance against Spurs at the weekend was their second goal – Neto broke from his own half, took it all the way and then squared it for Joao Gomez.
‘Neto’s left foot is amazing, and as we saw then, it was just brilliant play from him.’

After suffering back-to-back defeats prior to the winter break, meanwhile, Arsenal have roared back into title-winning contention following thumping wins over West Ham and Burnley, which followed a significant victory over Liverpool.
Seaman is confident Arteta’s men are well placed to go one better than last term, but insists the visit to the Etihad in April is likely to prove pivotal.
He said: ‘Man City’s draw with Chelsea does make the title race a lot closer. But I look at the squads and I’ve spoken about this before, the squads of Man City and Liverpool look really strong, but if Arsenal can stay away from injuries then I think they will give them a good fight. It’ll be close.
‘There’s a few big games for Arsenal coming up, so we’ll know a lot more after this month, I’m sure. But it’s great and it’s good for Arsenal to be in the title race.

‘The form that they’re in, they’ve got a chance of going to Man City in a real good form next month and giving them a test. Not like last season, where they went up there and there was a lot on it and then they didn’t perform at all. So hopefully it’s going to be different this season.
‘Arsenal are just steamrolling teams at the moment. They’ve got the Champions League coming up now with Porto on Wednesday and my only caution is that sometimes if they have a bad result in the Champions League games, it really affects them domestically and they have a proper wobble after that.
‘But the way that they are playing at the moment, I can’t see that happening away at Porto.’
