A 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with two people found shot dead in a Colorado university dorm room who have been identified as a student and a single mother.
Nicholas Jordan was taken into custody without incident shortly after 8.30am on Monday after cops found him in a vehicle at Cliff Point Circle East, said the Colorado Springs Police Department on X (Twitter).
Cops said a booking photo of Jordan will be released once he is processed into El Paso County Jail. An investigation into the double shooting at the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs on Friday is ongoing. The homicide unit obtained an arrest warrant for two counts of first-degree murder for Jordan, of Detroit, Michigan.
The arrest came a day after police named the victims as Samuel Knopp, 24, of Parker, Colorado, and Celie Rain Montgomery, 26, of Pueblo, Colorado. Both were found with gunshot wounds to the head around 6am on Friday, prompting a campus-wide lockdown at the university that went on for about 90 minutes.

Knopp was a senior at the university who played guitar and was studying music. He was with the Visual and Performing Arts department, the Daily Mail reported.
Montgomery was not a student at the university. Her LinkedIn page states she worked as a ‘Freelance Health & Wellness Copywriter in the holistic wellness space’. The education section stated that she studied psychology and human growth development at Pueblo Community College.
Her relative wrote on Facebook that she was a single ‘mom of two daughters’ that are five and seven years old, according to the Daily Mail.
The victims’ cause and manner of death have not yet been released by a coroner’s office.

Police on Friday said they did not believe the incident was a murder-suicide.
On Sunday, police said their investigation suggested it was ‘an isolated incident between parties that were known to one another and not a random attack against the school or other students at the university’.
Anyone with information on the crime is urged to contact the police department.
