Crystal Palace have officially parted ways with Roy Hodgson with the club battling relegation.
Oliver Glasner is set to replace the 76-year-old having been in talks with the Premier League side over the past few days.
Hodgson returned to manage Palace on an interim basis just under a year ago, replacing the sacked Patrick Vieira, before being given a 12-month extension.
But a run of just three wins in 19 games, results that have left the Eagles just five points above the relegation zone, had lead fans to demand huge changes at the club – both in the dugout and in the boardroom.
Following a last gasp defeat at home to Chelsea last Monday night, reports began to emerge that Palace were looking to hire Glasner and sack Hodgson.
However, on Thursday morning, the former England boss was taken ill during training and was later admitted to hospital, with his pre-match conference for Monday night’s trip to Everton cancelled.
‘Following news that Roy Hodgson was taken ill during today’s training session, we can confirm that he is now stable and is currently undergoing tests in hospital,’ a statement from Palace read at the time.

‘Everybody at the club sends their best wishes to Roy for a speedy recovery.’
Given this development, it was always unlikely that Hodgson would be back in dugout any time soon, with assistant managers Paddy McCarthy and Ray Lewington to take charge until Glasner’s appointment is confirmed.

The clash at Goodison Park can only be described as a relegation six-pointer, and defeat for the Eagles would leave them just two points above the drop zone.
There will be much hype surrounding Glasner when he arrives at Selhurst Park given his impressive spell at Frankfurt where he won the Europa League two years ago, while the Austrian was also of interest to Chelsea and Tottenham last summer.
